NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – Taliafaro, Inc. is managing the recovery and repair process at Boyd Manor, an independent living facility for seniors in Algiers. Taliafaro is the property management firm at Boyd Manor which was impacted by Hurricane Ida last month.
“We are committed to expeditiously addressing the resident and property concerns that have arisen following this severe natural weather event,” said Rosalind Swinger, a program specialist for Taliafaro, Inc. “We understand that disaster recovery is a gradual – and sometimes frustrating – process. We thank the residents for their patience as we diligently work with a HUD disaster management team, the Boyd Manor property owner, insurance adjusters, our maintenance team, and contractors to conduct the necessary repairs and remediations.”
Insurance adjusters and property liability adjusters conducted post-hurricane assessments of the property, and an official report is pending to determine if there was substantial flood damage. However, two units on the first floor of Boyd Manor have been deemed uninhabitable. Taliafaro provided the two residents whose units were deemed uninhabitable with assistance to relocate to alternative units on the property until required repairs are completed. Taliafaro is actively scheduling contractors to also conduct necessary repairs in some of the habitable units.
As the manager of an independent living facility, Taliafaro encourages its residents to always follow the weather advisories and evacuation notices issued by the City and State. “We aim to supply our residents with relevant and timely information that they can use to make the best-informed decisions for their safety,” Swinger said.
She added, “Taliafaro will continue to evaluate our processes and procedures so that we can mitigate any safety issues or living disruptions from storms in the future. Taliafaro will also fully cooperate and coordinate with any local or State officials who examine the recent occurrences at Boyd Manor.”
In addition to daily support from its on-site property manager and maintenance technician, Taliafaro has also provided each resident with a direct phone number for its corporate representative to address any questions or concerns.
